Welcome to CCSolidWaste, your online resource for information about solid waste services offered in Calaveras County.

Animal Carcasses are accepted at the Rock Creek Solid Waste in Milton, everyday except Wednesday. The first carcass under 100lbs is free, each additional carcass is $2. Carcasses over 100lbs are $10 per carcass.

Appliances are accepted at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility in Milton, at the Red Hill and Wilseyville transfer station annexes, and at the Avery transfer station. CFC removal certificates are not required for refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.

Asbestos-containing wastes are not accepted at any County-operated facility. However, the following options are available:

Biosolids -- Subject to Calaveras County Board of Supervisor approval, dewatered wastewater treatment sludge may be acceptable at Rock Creek, if it is not considered a hazardous material. For more information, refer to our Procedures Memorandum for the Acceptance of Biosolids.

Christmas trees -- Go to More Recycling

Computer monitors -- Go to CRTs

Contaminated soil -- Soil contaminated with small quantities of gasoline, oil, or other waste may be acceptable at Rock Creek, if it is not considered a hazardous material. For more information, refer to our Procedures Memorandum for the Acceptance of Petroleum-Contaminated Soil.

CRTs (TVs and computer monitors), when discarded, are considered by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control Board to be a hazardous waste. CRTs are accepted at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility, the Red Hill Annex, the Wilseyville Annex, the Avery Transfer Station, or at the annual household hazardous waste collection events at no charge. Construction and demolition debris can be taken to the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility everyday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Mixed construction debris is $8 a cubic yard.
Segregated materials that can be recycled will be accepted at no charge (e.g. clean concrete, concrete asphalt, wood, sheetrock, and metal).

Miller Rock & Wood in Avery accepts clean concrete and asphalt concrete for no charge, for operating hours, go to Miller Rock & Wood.

Electronics - when landfilled, are considered by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control Board to be a hazardous waste. Electronics are accepted at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility, the Red Hill Annex, the Wilseyville Annex, the Avery Transfer Station, or at the annual household hazardous waste collection events at no charge. Junk mail -- Reducing unwanted junk mail saves landfill space, conserves natural resources, and may reduce your trash bill. For more information on how to reduce your unwanted junk mail, go to Unwanted Junk Mail

Latex paint
is collected for recycling at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility and at the Red Hill and Wilseyville Annex for no charge. The collected paint is processed and returned in five-gallon buckets in various earth-tone colors. Recycled paint is available to nonprofit organizations at no cost. Contact the Solid Waste Division, if you know a group that would benefit from this program. Dry latex paint can be disposed of at any local transfer station.

Needles & Syringes - see sharps

Oil-Based Paint is considered a hazardous waste and is acceptable only at Rock Creek at no charge.

Propane tanks -- Propane tanks up to 25-gallons are accepted at Rock Creek at no charge. For information on how to dispose of tanks larger than 25-gallons contact a professional propane service.

Sharps are collected at the Toxics Facility at Rock Creek and at the annual Toxics Collection Events at no charge. Sharps must be in an approved sharps container.

Stumps
24 inches are accepted at the Red Hill and Wilseyville Annexes at no charge. Stumps larger than 24 inches are accepted at the Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility for $8 a cubic yard.

Soil -- Clean fill is accepted at Rock Creek for no charge.

Telephone books -- Go to More Recycling

Televisions -- Go to CRTs.

Vehicles -- In general, we do not accept vehicles or motorhomes at County-operated facilities. For more information, go to our Procedures Memorandum for the Acceptance of Vehicles at County Solid Waste Facilities.
